Humble ground is flat, wooded, and wet for part of the year. The county soil survey describes this corner of Harris County as pine and hardwood country on slow-draining loams over clay, with water sitting near the surface from winter into spring. The trees are loblolly pine, water oak, sweetgum, and red oak over a yaupon understory, and Chinese tallow takes over the low spots. Along Spring Creek and the West Fork of the San Jacinto, the bottoms add cypress and palmetto. A lot that looks dry in August can rut badly in February, so we size the equipment and time the work to the ground.

We clear for builders and homeowners across the area, from half-acre and one-acre wooded lots in Kings Lake Estates and Belleau Woods to new homesites in The Groves and the unrestricted parcels toward Huffman. Generation Park is bringing large industrial campuses to the Beltway 8 side of town, and the construction around it opens more lots every month. Estimates are free, the company is fully insured, and we leave the lot ready for the next step.

Local Conditions in Humble

Land Clearing Built for Humble Ground

Humble is two jurisdictions sharing one mailing address. Inside the city limits, the City of Humble requires permits for tree removal, grading, fill, and site development. Its 2024 tree preservation ordinance calls for a tree removal permit on any tree over four inches in caliper when a lot is cleared. The permit needs an approved tree disposition plan first, and the city expects invasive trees on the state forest service list to come out. Most Humble addresses, including Atascocita, Fall Creek, The Groves, and Kings Lake Estates, sit outside the city in unincorporated Harris County. There the Harris County Engineer is the floodplain administrator, and a county development permit covers grading, filling, and excavation. No fill goes in a floodway, fill cannot be used to raise a house in the 100-year floodplain, and any storage lost in the 500-year floodplain has to be offset one for one. The draft FEMA flood maps released in early 2026 push more of the Lake Houston area into mapped flood zones, so we check the map on every property before the machines roll. Growth here is steady, with Generation Park's industrial campuses, new retail on Will Clayton Parkway, and the wooded subdivisions between the city and the lake all feeding clearing work.

Humble FAQs

Land Clearing in Humble: Common Questions

Local answers on permits, cost, and what to expect on Humble property.

Call (281) 432-7360

How much does land clearing cost in Humble?
It depends on the lot: acreage, how thick the pine and yaupon are, wet ground, access, and whether the debris gets mulched in place or hauled off. A tight half-acre lot in Belleau Woods and two wooded acres off FM 1960 East are different jobs. We come out, look at the property, and give you a free, firm number.
Do I need a permit to clear land in Humble, TX?
Inside the city limits, yes. The City of Humble permits tree removal, grading, fill, and site development, and lot clearing needs a tree removal permit plus an approved tree disposition plan under the 2024 tree ordinance. Outside the city, Harris County issues the development permit and handles anything in the floodplain. We tell you which one applies during the estimate.
My lot has a Humble address but sits in Atascocita or Kings Lake Estates. Who permits the clearing?
Harris County. Those areas are unincorporated, so the Harris County Engineer, not the city, reviews grading, fill, and floodplain work. The county does not require a demolition permit for tearing down an old structure, but it does require a development permit before you build back.
Can you bring in fill to raise a low, wet lot near Lake Houston or Spring Creek?
Sometimes, and the flood map decides. Harris County allows no fill in a floodway and will not let fill raise a house inside the 100-year floodplain. In the 500-year zone, any storage you take away has to be replaced elsewhere on the site. Outside those zones, fill needs a site plan and a fill affidavit. We check the parcel before quoting dirt work.
When is Humble ground too wet to clear?
The loams over clay here hold water from December through spring, and a wet week can leave a lot too soft for wheeled equipment. Tracked mulchers get back on the ground sooner and leave a mulch layer that protects the soil. If the site is saturated, we wait a few days rather than rut it up, and the estimate does not change.
