Land Clearing in Pinehurst, TX

Pinehurst sits in the county's southwestern corner, where FM 149, FM 1774 and SH 249 meet. Our Spring base is about 16 miles to the east, measured in a straight line. The first post office here opened in 1860 under the name Prairie Home. By 1885 the town shipped lumber and cotton and had six sawmills. The railroad came through about 1902, and in 1904 the town took the name Pinehurst. Along the creeks, the soil is mostly loamy, mixed with smaller sandy areas. Farther from the creeks, land north of Spring Creek shifts from loamy soil toward clay. Much of the Spring Creek system still has a wooded buffer along its banks.

We clear land in Woodtrace, Colony at Pinehurst, Arbor Trace, Cripple Creek Farms and Kipling Oaks. We also clear acreage along FM 149 and FM 1774. Standard scope is clearing and grubbing: the trees and brush come down, and the stumps and root mats come out. Our compact track loader carries a forestry mulching head, and a mini excavator handles the digging. You choose whether debris is mulched on site or hauled off in our trucks and roll-off containers. MTM is fully insured, and every estimate is free.

Site preparation, grading and dirt work, excavation, trenching and demolition get a lot ready to build.

Forestry Mulching Clear thick brush and overgrown land with eco-friendly forestry mulching — one pass, no burning, no hauling, and a natural mulch layer left behind. Brush Clearing We clear brush and undergrowth off overgrown lots, acreage, pond banks and ditch lines around Spring and Montgomery County. Free estimates on every job. Tree Removal Safe removal of large, dead, hazardous, and in-the-way trees — for land clearing, new construction, and storm cleanup. Debris hauled off, lot left clean. Stump Grinding Grinding and full removal of stubborn stumps and root systems — below grade, cleaned up, and ready for grass, fence, or foundation. Grading & Dirt Work Site leveling, pad prep, drainage correction, and driveway prep — we move and shape earth into a solid, build-ready foundation. Site Prep We clear and grub raw land, then rough level it and haul the debris off. Builders and lot owners around Spring use us to get a site ready to build. Excavation Site digs, pond excavation, trenching, foundation and pad digs, and drainage work — done right with the right machines. Trenching Open trenching for water, sewer, electrical, and drainage lines — trenches cut straight, to depth, and backfilled clean. Demolition Structure teardown, concrete and slab removal, barn and shed demo, and selective demolition — site cleared and hauled, ready for what is next. Fence Line Mulching Reclaim overgrown property lines and right-of-ways — brush and small trees mulched away fast, without damaging your existing fences.
Local Conditions in Pinehurst

Land Clearing Built for Pinehurst Ground

Pinehurst is unincorporated, so Montgomery County rules apply to clearing here. The county requires a development permit for all development in its unincorporated areas. Its definition of development names clearing, grading and filling. The county's exemptions include residential clearing and agricultural upkeep outside the flood hazard area. Checking whether a job qualifies is the landowner's responsibility. Jobs that disturb an acre or more of soil also fall under the TCEQ construction stormwater permit. A 2021 Spring Creek watershed plan places Pinehurst in the Mill Creek drainage, which joins Spring Creek north of Tomball. The plan notes more rise and fall in this watershed than on ground nearer the coast. Elevation drops from northwest to southeast. The plan says erosion is prominent in the creek sediments, which are mined in the watershed for sand or gravel. West of SH 249, the plan found mostly rural homes, farms and undeveloped land. Development is pushing in fast. Two SH 249 toll segments meet at FM 1774 in Pinehurst. One runs to Spring Creek, and the Aggie Expressway runs to FM 1488 east of Magnolia. The Aggie Expressway's tolled main lanes opened on August 8, 2020. Pinehurst had 5,195 residents at the 2020 census.

Pinehurst FAQs

Land Clearing in Pinehurst: Common Questions

Local answers on permits, cost, and what to expect on Pinehurst property.

Call (281) 432-7360

How much does land clearing cost in Pinehurst, TX?
It depends on the land. A wooded homesite that needs stumps and root mats pulled takes more machine time than brush on open ground. Tree size, wet ground, access from FM 1774 or a subdivision street, and haul-off all change the job. Mulching debris on site leaves less to haul. You get a number for your land after a free estimate.
Do I need a permit to clear land in Pinehurst, TX?
Pinehurst is unincorporated, so permits here come from Montgomery County. The county requires a development permit for all development in its unincorporated areas, and its definition names clearing. Some jobs fit an exemption, and the county leaves that check to the landowner. We look at what your parcel needs during the free estimate. Our Montgomery County land clearing permit guide has the details.
Can I clear a homesite in Pinehurst without a county permit?
Sometimes, if the land sits outside the flood hazard area. Montgomery County's exemption 2 covers clearing for a single-family home and outbuildings there. The limit is half the property, up to 2.5 acres, and no grading may alter the natural flow of water. We go over it at the free estimate, before any site preparation begins.
Can you clear fence lines and brush on Pinehurst acreage?
Yes. Fence line mulching grinds brush and saplings along the fence and leaves the mulch in place. A remote-controlled compact machine reaches pond banks and ditches where a bigger machine cannot go. Outside the flood hazard area, the county's exemption 9 covers agricultural upkeep, including clearing trees and maintaining fence lines. Thick growth elsewhere on the tract calls for brush clearing.
Can you clear land near Mill Creek or in a flood zone?
Yes, after we check where the flood hazard area falls on your tract. The county's clearing exemptions for homesites and agricultural upkeep only apply outside it. Inside it, clearing is a permit question for Montgomery County. If stumps or roots come out, Texas law requires a call to 811 at least 48 hours before digging. Weekends and legal holidays do not count.
